A New Year!

Today is already 3 January 2026.  You are almost 8 months old!  Christmas went by more quickly than I can ever remember before.  We didn’t get to see very much of you because it was your year to spend with the Henry family.  We missed you, but I think you had a happy time with your Henry grandparents and aunties!

Because tomorrow is Sunday and then Lila has to go back to school Monday and because your mom is at work all day, we asked if we could come pick you up and spend some time with you.  Lila sat in the back with you as we drove over here.  She made you smile and laugh the whole time.  She loves you so much!  And I know you can feel that and you love her, too!

You haven’t been over here as much as you used to, so you’re not as used to sleeping here.  You were so tired this afternoon but did NOT want to fall sleep.  I was rocking you and eventually I walked into my closet where it was dark and you fell right asleep.  I’ve kept you here on my bed next to me, though, rather than putting you in your crib because I just want to be close to you as much as you can!

We’ve also been reading lots of books and playing with toys.  You are getting pretty steady with sitting up on your own and you look so cute and so grown up when you do!

Miles was here with two of his friends.  They all said you were so cute!  But Miles said, “It’s not just because I’m her uncle, I literally think she is the cutest baby on the face of the earth.”  Miles is taller than me now all of the sudden.  He is actually my first child to outgrow me in height.  And he’s only 16.

You think it is hilarious when Miles or Lila do silly dance moves.  Miles was spinning around and even though you were so tired, you couldn’t help smiling huge and kicking your legs.

We all love you so much, Sophie Jane!
