Mama’s Birthday and Christmas
Two days ago was your mom’s 24th birthday! Because her birthday is so close to Christmas, I have always tried to make a special effort to be sure that she has her own special celebration apart from the family celebration. But this year you guys will be spending Christmas with your Henry family so we decided to do both celebrations in the same day.
I spent most of the day baking, cooking, cleaning, and decorating to make sure your mom was really celebrated. She chose to have me make my Mexican Soup (enchilada soup base with chicken, corn, hominy and different types of beans) and “special cake” (a chocolate cake covered with a chocolate pudding and cream cheese layer and then a cool whip layer and then chocolate shavings on top. We ate, laughed, opened gifts, then had cake.

I only put 6 candles on the cake — 2 and 4. But your mom only blew out 4 the first try after we sang to her. She then started laughing and tried to blow out the other 2. But neither went out. She had to try about 5 more times and just kept laughing harder and harder. We have a very cute video of it!
We then opened Christmas presents. We started with you. It was fun because you had just started to get the idea of ripping off paper. It was so cute. Your aunts and uncles all have you cute little gifts—books, a sweater, little stacking cups. Then grandpa and I have you a Llama Llama Red Pajama book with a matching little plushy, a little tag blanket toy, and a Peanuts Snow Globe. I think that was your favorite gift.

You went to sleep upstairs after that. The rest of us opened gifts and watched a Christmas movie that your mom chose, “The Last Holiday”. It was an all around happy, loving, and memorable night!
