Payson Scottish Festival

Your Grandpa J has a huge passion for bagpipes. I have a huge passion for family history. So together the two of us love everything about Scotland. We went there for the first time last summer and it was an incredible experience like nothing I’ve ever felt before. From the minute I saw Scotland before us from the plane I had an almost eerie sense that I was coming back to where I belong.

I loved being there so much. I loved the nature, the architecture, the history, the small towns, the big cities…EVERYTHING! I hope that someday you will be interested in learning about your family history and that you will enjoy having me share these places with you.

Anyway…no Scotland for us this year. 😭😭😭. But, your grandpa has been playing his pipes a lot. Last Saturday was the a Payson Scottish festival. He competed in some solos and also with his band. You came with your parents to support him on Saturday afternoon. It was very hot and not your most favorite environment with all the people and all the noise going on. However, you really did seem to enjoy the bagpipe music. Grandpa hopes that you will love it!

You heard a bagpipe band play live for the first time. And it is also the first time that your feet have touched grass! You seemed to like it. I’m glad we got to experience all of that together!

I’m including these photos simply because you’re so cute. Your dad went golfing so your mom came over to hang out with us. You’re just the cutest thing! Your Mama

I think you are very lucky to have my Grace Taylor for a mom. I’m a little biased because she is my first child. But she loves you so much and really wants to be the best mom ever. This was kind of a crazy time in her life to be having a baby, but we know that there were angels watching over her and over you! On Thursday, April 24th, Grandpa and I went to BYU to watch your mom’s graduation from nursing school. She has known she wanted to be a nurse since she was a little girl. And she has worked so hard. So this was a very special day! Afterwards, your gramps and I took your parents to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. I don’t know if it will continue, but at least during her pregnancy with you, your mom LOVED this certain Asian chicken salad they have there. She wanted to eat it all the time. Smiling!

So, you are officially “social” smiling now. Your eyesight is good enough that you can focus on faces and will make eye contact. Yesterday I watched you while your mom went to a physical therapy appointment. I put you in the baby wrap and took you outside with me to water the flowers. You kept smiling. You love to be outside. Then we came in and had a nap. Lila took these photos. Afterwards we went with Miles and Lila back to your apartment to the pool. Grace fed you and put you into a onesie. We didn’t stay too long because it was the hottest day of the summer so far and also Miles had a drum lesson we had to get back for. But you were so fun the whole time. I was talking to you and you were smiling and concentrating and trying so hard to speak! You actually did make a few little cooing sounds for the first time! It was so cute!
